Our 2025 Annual Education Report (AER) was made public on January 13 — it’s a one-stop snapshot of how our schools are doing and how we support student success.
Our AER includes:
School accountability information
Student assessment data
Educator qualifications
Graduation and participation data
It also meets federal (Every Student Succeeds Act – ESSA) and state reporting requirements, helping ensure transparency and accountability for families and the community.
To make the data meaningful locally, our schools add cover letters that provide important context, including:
• How students are assigned to schools
• Progress on school improvement plans
• Information about specialized programs
• Core curriculum implementation
• Locally administered assessments
• Parent-teacher conference participation
• Dual enrollment and postsecondary opportunities
These reports are updated annually and can be easily shared, printed, or linked — keeping families informed and engaged.
You can learn more about our AER and access resources (including multilingual cover letter templates) through the Michigan Department of Education here: mischooldata.org/annual-education-report
Clear data + clear context = better governance and better decisions in service of success for every one of our kids.
