July 7th update: The next strategic plan meeting will be on August 11th – and another one will be on August 25th. Our Curriculum Committee will also discuss it tomorrow at their meeting. Here’s that agenda – note presentation slides linked at the top. And you can subscribe to have school board meetings agendas and packets emailed to you once they’re published HERE.
”All means all.”
I love this line by Michael Fullan that was shared at last month’s first strategic plan meeting.
When it comes to improving our educational equity and closing student achievement gaps, lasting school reform must reach every student and stakeholder—not just a few.
🔔That means:
• Inclusivity – All students must benefit, no matter their background or learning needs or how much money their parents make.
• Shared Responsibility – Everyone plays a role: teachers, school staff, admin, parents, students, school board trustees and community members.
• Systemic Impact – Real change transforms the whole system – the whole school district – not just one building or one classroom.
Fullan’s work reminds us: if it doesn’t work for everyone, it doesn’t really work.
🖐️🖐️It’s been 10 years since Courtade was nationally recognized for not only closing the student achievement gap between their economically disadvantaged students and their peers but also for improving outcomes for all students.
We now have an opportunity to improve our educational equity on a district scale with things like:
• school/kindergarten readiness
• early literacy
• math skills
• advanced coursework enrollment
• graduation rates
• career/college readiness
Because our kids are all better off when all of our kids are better off – and education, of course, is the passport out of poverty.
The next meeting on our new strategic plan is this Monday, June 16th at 5pm at North Ed’s Admin building (there will be no livestream or recording).
Also, there is an emerging Educational Equity Coalition that is forming locally to help build public support and political to bring solutions to this opportunity. If you’d like to get involved, contact Mike Radke at mwradkephd@gmail.com
