The Foster Grandparent Program, part of Senior Volunteer Programs of Northwest Michigan and AmeriCorps Seniors, connects senior citizens like Cindy with schools to share their time, talents, and wisdom with our kids.
These mentors dedicate 10+ hours a week to support students with reading, writing, spelling, and sight words.
Beyond academics, they also create meaningful relationships, often filling the role of a grandparent figure for kids who may not have one in their lives. 💕
At TCAPS, Foster Grandparents are making a difference at:
- Traverse Heights Elementary
- Eastern Elementary
- Central Grade School
- NMCAA’s Great Start Readiness Program classrooms at Traverse Heights
This program is a shining example of how intergenerational connections can help our kids succeed and strengthen our community.
